Terms of Use
Last updated 3 October 2026
These Terms govern your use of cgteasy (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
cgteasy is a self-service software tool that performs arithmetic on information you supply and presents general information about Irish capital gains tax. It prepares estimates and draft figures for your own review. It does not file returns, make payments or communicate with the Revenue Commissioners on your behalf.
2. Not professional advice
The Service does not provide tax, accounting, legal or financial advice, and no adviser–client, fiduciary or agency relationship is created by your use of it. Outputs — including calculations, AI-extracted data, AI audit comments, pre-filled forms, deadlines, interest and surcharge estimates — are general and may not reflect your personal circumstances. You should consult a qualified tax adviser or the Revenue Commissioners before relying on them.
3. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your tax affairs, including: the accuracy and completeness of all information you enter or upload; verifying every figure, extraction and pre-filled form before use; determining your residence, domicile and the correct tax treatment of each asset; filing returns and paying tax on time; and any tax, interest, surcharges, penalties or other consequences arising from your returns.
4. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranty that the Service, its calculations, exchange rates, form templates or AI outputs are accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any purpose, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Tax law and Revenue forms change; the Service may not reflect the latest position.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, cgteasy and its owners, employees and suppliers are not liable for any loss or damage arising from or connected with your use of, or reliance on, the Service, including any tax, interest, surcharge, penalty, assessment, audit, enquiry, professional fees, or loss of profit or data, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim (or €50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Irish law.
6. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your tax returns, your breach of these Terms, or information you provide.
7. Your account
Keep your login credentials secure. You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts used unlawfully or in breach of these Terms.
8. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
